Description
The Association of Presbyterial Women (APW) raises money from used stamps. The stamp revenue is allocated by APW for mission work and projects in NZ and overseas.
Although electronic communication continues to erode the quantity of stamped correspondence, the St Giles congregation still contributes excellent quantities of stamps. Individual contributions combine with significant numbers of stamps from workplace competition entries or other stamps gathered from workplaces, families and friends.
Many members of St Giles are prodigious international correspondents and we regularly have stamps from 20-35 different countries represented in the mix.
When stamps are dropped off at the St Giles foyer, they are trimmed (to about 6mm), sorted and delivered to the Christchurch stamp coordinator. From there, they are marketed through stamp auctions.
Thank you to everyone who brings used stamps to Church. The stamps are welcomed whether on torn paper, trimmed to 6mm or attached to entire envelopes.
Tea coupons and cereal cards are also collected.
